Why Am I Having Zoom Audio Issues?
If you are having audio issues when you're in Zoom, there are a few settings you can adjust to create a smoother experience. 1. Click on the clock located on the bottom right of the Chromebook screen, which should open a menu that shows some basic settings, including your speaker volume. 2. If the sound is too low or too high, you can adjust it by moving the dot on the line to the right. 50-60% is usually a good spot, which we've highlighted. 3. There will also be an arrow at the end of the speaker range that can be clicked on to open additional audio settings. There you can adjust the microphone volume. Note: Setting the microphone sensitivity too high will create a distorted sound for users when you're trying to speak and setting it too low will make it difficult for users to hear you. If you are still having issues after these adjustments, we can look at the Zoom settings to make additional changes. 1. While in a Zoom meeting, open additional audio settings by clicking the upward-facing arrow next to the microphone icon on the bottom left of the screen. 2. This will open a small box with input and output selections. If you're using just the computer audio, you want to ensure "Same as System" options are selected. If you are using a headset, you may need to change those selections to match your headset. 3. Click on the Audio Settings... option to open additional settings. The bottom setting should be left unchecked, if possible. This should increase sound stability if you find it cutting in and out when you are speaking into the microphone. If your issue continues after exploring these options, please create a ticket with us so we can find a resolution. Additionally, please include as many details as you can including when it happens, what device you are using, and how long it has been occurring so we can better assist you.

Why Can't I Get Into My Zoom Class?
If you're receiving an error when trying to join your Zoom class, there may be a number of causes. To narrow it down, please follow these steps: 1. Make sure the meeting time and class you're trying to join is correct. 2. If you are clicking on the Zoom link for the correct class and time, but are seeing details for the wrong class, try to clear your cache following these directions. 3. If you are using a personal device and are receiving a 403 Forbidden error, please check that you are not logged into Google Chrome under a personal account. If so, log out and log in with your NNPS School account. If your issue continues after exploring these options, please create a ticket with us so we can find a resolution. Additionally, please include as many details as you can including when it happens, what device you are using, and how long it has been occurring so we can better assist you.

How do I join a Zoom meeting on my NNPS iPad?
How do I join a Zoom meeting on my NNPS iPad? (Preschool and Kindergarten only) Pre-K and Kindergarten students use an iPad as their NNPS-issued technology device. This article will review the steps needed for your child to join their teacher’s Zoom meeting in the case of virtual learning from home. Each teacher will communicate with families where they can locate their classroom’s Zoom link. The following instructions will start from that step. From the iPad, click on the link for the Zoom meeting. You may briefly see the screen to the right. If the iPad stays on this screen, close the Zoom app and try again. The first time your child accesses a Zoom meeting on their iPad, they will be prompted to complete these steps: Sign in with Google. A Safari (internet browser) tab will open where you will type in your child's NNPS email and password. Students in Preschool and Kindergarten will use their NNPS student ID to log in as their username and password. For example: Email: 123456@nnschools.org Password: 123456 Select Next. You will then be redirected back to Zoom. A popup box will appear stating: “Zoom Would Like to Access the Camera.” Select Allow. Select the blue Join button to connect to the meeting. You will see a waiting screen stating Waiting for the host to start this meeting. OR Host has joined. We've let them know you're here. Please wait for your teacher to admit you to the Zoom meeting. A popup box will appear stating: “To hear others please join audio.”* Select Wifi or Cellular Data. *This option will pop up every time you connect to a Zoom meeting until you turn on Auto Connect to Audio in your Zoom App Settings (see below). A popup box will appear stating: “Zoom Would Like to Access the Microphone.” Select Allow. Once your child has successfully connected to the Zoom Meeting: To access meeting controls, tap the middle of the screen and you will see the following options appear along the top of the screen. Switch camera (left) will switch between the front view and back view of the camera. Switch to gallery view (left) will show the videos of all students and teachers in the meeting in a grid format. Mute (top middle) turns off the microphone. Click it again to Unmute. Start/Stop Video (top right) will start the camera and show your video on the screen. Share Content (top right) will only be used if the teacher asks a child to share their screen. Participants (top right) will show a list of who is in the meeting. More (top right) allows the student to open the Chat, change some settings, and use the reaction buttons. See the picture to the right for the expanded menu under More. To leave the meeting, tap the screen, then click the red Leave button in the top right corner. Click the red button stating Leave Meeting to confirm you want to leave. Recommended Settings to Adjust on the Zoom App There are three Zoom settings we recommend turning ON to improve your child’s Zoom experience. Auto-Connect Audio Always Show Meeting Controls Set Gallery View as Default Access these settings when you are not in a live Zoom meeting and have returned to the screen pictured here. Tap the settings icon in the top left of the screen. Then, select Meetings at the top of the list. Select Auto Connect Audio at the top. Then, select Wifi. Once you see a check next to Wifi, select Done in the top right. When the Settings box reappears, scroll down under General, turn on Always Show Meeting Controls, and Set Gallery View as Default. You can then select the back arrow in the top left, then select Close to exit Settings. You will not need to take all of these steps in future Zoom meetings. Once the steps above are completed during the first time accessing a live Zoom meeting, the iPad will remember the child’s name and all changed settings (microphone, video, audio, show meeting controls, and gallery view). **updated 02/01/2024
