The “VGA Port” is the one with the two prongs and the trapezoid shape hookup. 

One end of the VGA cable goes into the box on the wall, the other goes into your laptop. This cord can be much thinner and a different color. What’s important is the hookup. This produces PICTURE on your SMARTBoard. 

This USB hookup is a cord coming from your SMARTBoard (already attached) and should be plugged into any USB port on your laptop. This produces SOUND and TOUCH on your SMARTBoard.
