Google Takeout for Windows Devices

Do you have Google Docs or other content in your Google Drive that you want to access after leaving NNPS?  If so, Google has a process you can use to download your Google Drive content for use and storage as you see fit.

Recommendations

  • Clean up your Google Drive before downloading files

    • The Google Takeout process downloads all files in your drive – you may not want everything.

  • If you only want a small set of files, simply select the files and download them directly from your Google drive without using the Takeout process.

Using Google Takeout

  1. Go to the website: https://takeout.google.com/

  2. Under Create a New Export, Click Deselect all.

  1. Click the box next to “Drive.”

  2. Go through the list and choose any other Google products you wish to back up.  (YouTube playlists, Google Classroom files, etc…)

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Next step.”

  1. Under destination, choose “Download Link via Email.”

  2. Under frequency, choose “Export Once.”

  3. Leave file type as a .ZIP

  4. It is recommended to leave the maximum file size at 10GB but that is your choice.  If your download is larger than 10 GB, you will receive more than 1 download file.

  5. Click Create Export

  1. Check your NNPS email to find the download link, once it is complete.

  1.  Click on “Download your files.”

  1.  Click the “Download” button and choose Desktop as the destination.

Note: Ensure your laptop is plugged in or fully charged, as the download process could take a while.

  1. Your download will start automatically.

  1. Locate the zipped folder on your desktop.

  2.  Move the .ZIP folder(s) from your Desktop to your desired location.
